Edito

Our promotion is a little different this month.

We had many different ideas so we thought, why not try them all?

Also, we wanted to encourage clients to follow us on Twitter.

Now, this is not because we want to compete with Charlie or Kanye (pairing hair talk with New Yorker cartoons doesn’t work. We tried).

Rather, we realized that it’s an efficient way to let everyone know about last minute appointment opportunities.

Like any other business, we’d rather not have too many openings in our day. Sometimes they happen. We thought Twitter would be a great way to put the word out that someone at the salon has availability.

This is great for those of you who prefer to be *ahem* spontaneous. It’s also useful in case you have squeezed in your appointment on a less ideal day: now our last minute opening might be your golden opportunity to book your appointment at a time that suits you better.

Plus you save, since we usually discount these last minute appointments.

So you won’t be hearing about how Emmanuel doesn’t like cinnamon, and all the other minutiae of our lives. But following us on Twitter might just land you some great discounts on your next beauty appointment!

If you see a promotion that interests, or see an appointment opening that suits your needs, Just call our reception at 415.362.8063!

Promotion: Daily Specials Month

Follow us on Twitter for DAILY SPECIALS

Everyday we will feature a different promotion or giveaway. The discounts will usually be deep but available only for that day, so keep checking! Note that these daily savings will only be offered via Twitter!

Darby Returns

Darby is slowly returning from maternity leave (her daughter, Tiger, was born July 7th of last year). She’s found a nanny, and is ready for action—part-time, anyhow; we still need to train Tiger to be a stylist assistant.

Monday 11a to 4p
Wednesday 11a to 4p

For those of you who don’t know her yet, Darby has a great pedigree as a master stylist, including a long stint in NYC and acting as an ongoing guest artist for Joico/ISO.

A few words from Darby on her approach:
I love to help clients break through the limitations they perceive with their hair, and express their inner glamour! I specialize in dry cutting, nuanced color, and texture services, as well as hair extensions.

Face Framing Highlights

A Quick Affordable Way to Update Your Look and More
— Stephanie Martin, Stylist

One really useful application of quicklites is to create Face Framing Highlights. I’ve been offering these to my clients for years.

They’re an easy, fun and affordable way to brighten up your look. When styled to frame the face, highlights help attract light, which creates a youthful "glow" around your features and brightens your complexion. They add color subtly without going overboard, giving you a fresh look that's still understated and professional.

Face framing highlights can be done with foils or balayage. You'll frequently see celebrities using them — recent examples include Sarah Jessica Parker, Leighton Meester, Minka Kelly and Helen Mirren.

When worn down, face framing highlights are seen from underneath and around the area where you part your hair. Pulled back, these highlights add a little "interest" to your ponytail or bun. Whether you want to look like you just returned from a relaxing beach vacation, or you're just trying to bring out the sparkle in your eyes, face framing highlights are the way to go.

Never colored your hair before and not sure what color would be right for you?
Look at pictures of yourself when you were young. If you had light hair as a child, use that color as a guide, It will be most natural for you. Typically I choose a color that is one or two shades lighter than your natural color. This keeps you from looking too washed out. Face framing highlights can be done on anyone, it doesn't matter if you are blonde, brunette, red or gray!

Feeling like you need an update but not sure what to do? Not sure if you're ready to commit to coloring your hair? I recommend face framing highlights as a great first step.
